This may resolve the issue and allow you to open web pages again. Another option is to access the Safe Mode with Networking option for Windows and try opening a web page in any Internet browser. If you can successfully open a web page in safe mode, the issue may be a process that only runs in normal Windows mode.
We are very heavy users of Ancestry.com and are not experencing the same issues your are. If possible you might consider updating your OS also I am sure you checked to see your using the latest version of Safari. You might also do a bit of matinance with repair permission.
Is this the only site you have an issue with? I know Klaus has offered a lot of help in these forums, but I cant agree with his suggestion of not using them (Ancestry) particularly when its a site that you have to pay for. Yesterday I discovered that Safari would no longer display the images on Ancestry.com. I spoke with a support person, who had me do several things, but nothing worked.
We thought that the trouble was just with Safari, not with other browsers. He sent me an email of other things to try.
I did what he said, the tried again to open an image with Safari. Then I tried with Chrome and Firefox.
Again no luck. I called Technical Support again, and this time was transferred to a higher up tech. She worked with me on Safari, but nothing she suggested solved the problem. Then she decided to try Chrome. We kept working, and finally got Chrome to open images. I really prefer Safari, though. I have version 5.1.9, because my system sofware is 10.6.8.
I don't think version 6 will work with this. Is Apple no longer updating version 5.1.9. Ancestry.com had recently done some updates, to make their viewer better for everyone.
But apparently not for Safari 5.1.9 users. Can anyone help? And I simply cannot do without Ancestry.com, so giving it up is not an option.
